Custom designed by Alan McCulloch this 2 channel guitar pre-amp features a clean and an overdrive channel. The clean channel has a basic volume, lo eq and hi eq whereas the overdrive channel has gain, volume, master volume, bass, middle, treble and hi controls.
Custom designed by Alan McCulloch this 15 watt power amplifier uses 4 * 6K6GT valves and a GZ34 recifier. The amp has 8Ω and 16Ω speaker taps.
The Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp is based on the classic Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ amplifier, but in the popular rackmountable form of the late 1980s. It's a 2U tube preamp and has 5 preamp tubes; 4 ECC83 (12AX7) valves and one ECC81 (12AT7) to drive the spring reverb. It's got two switchable channels, rhythm and lead, as well as the classic 5 band graphic EQ, onboard spring reverb, a high quality effects loop, recording outs and two outputs to run to a stereo power amplifier.
The Mesa/Boogie Fifty/Fifty is a stereo valve power amp, specifically for guitar use. Made in California it uses 6L6 valves for its two independent channels. It features volume and presence controls for each channel and a very useful hi-lo power switch that switches it from 50 watts to 15 watts to allow for earlier onset of valve distortion whilst recording.
2 x 250 W Amplifier Module with Integrated Power Supply
The 250ASX2 is a fully
integrated, intelligent amplifier module designed particularly for consumer and professional audio applications.
This amplifier module has an integrated high efficient resonant power supply. It is an excellent choice from the amplifier modules category
as it offers audiophile quality, is very powerful but also compact and has a nice feature set.
The 250ASX2 can be configured to either stereo or mono output. With both channels driven it is up to providing 230 watts into 4Ω on both channels. In the bridged configuration, it outputs up to 500 watts into 8Ω! The ±24 VDC auxiliary supply for powering external circuitry, elimination of heat sinks and EMI shields allow for easy implementation in your project. This module is EMC and safety approved. It is protected against short-circuit, overload and over-heating and includes onboard fuses and EMI filtering to provide a CE and FCC pre-approved design.
I have added a balanced to unbalanced transformer input stage to the amp to reduce the noise floor. To do this I used 2 JB832 audio line input transformers from Stevens & Billington.
